Google+ trends: 'Diablo III' fastest-selling game in history, search for #1 AKB48 fan

Fantasy action role-playing game Diablo III is now the fastest-selling video game in history with more than 3.5 million copies sold within the first 24 hours and 6.3 million copies sold within the first week.

Google+ users are posting links to news articles about the record and reposting a Diablo III meme that reads “Mom, one does not simply ‘pause’ online game.”

G+’ers are also discussing the reported death of a Diablo III player who was found in his room after suffering from “a heart attack after a three-day binge on Diablo III.”

Fans of the Japanese all-girl group AKB48 (which holds the record for being the world’s largest pop group with 207 members) are penning open letters to the group on Google+ hoping to be chosen as one of six official “fan reporters.”

They are explaining why they believe their favorite singer should be elected at the 4th annual AKB48 General Election in the hope of winning a trip to Japan and a personal thank-you video from their favorite member.

Google+ is filling with cute pictures of turtles for World Turtle Day (which is typically held annually on May 23).

“If we learn one thing on #WorldTurtleDay, please may it be the difference between a Turtle and a Tortoise,” say posters, “Turtle = Aquatic” and “Tortoise = Terrestrial.”

Yahoo! unveiled a brand new browser, called Axis, that aims to make search more visual.

“I can't wait to try out the new #Yahoo offering: #YahooAxis ! It looks really intuitive and something Google should have implemented a loooong time ago. Seamless searching without leaving your page with an intuitive results set,” wrote some users while others complained “‘Yahoo! Axis does not run on your Operating System. Have an iPhone or iPad? Check out the Yahoo! Axis apps!’ that is why #yahoo #yahooaxis sucks.”

Fans of Twilight star Kristen Stewart are hoping to have their eyes opened a little wider after watching topless scenes in the movie On the Road.

The film made its debut at the Cannes film festival last night and has since set social media sites on fire with posts about Kristen Stewart’s “bare-all” role in the film.
